Ronald McDonald House Central West

Our House in Orange opened in April 2015 and has been a 'home away from home' for families who have travelled so that their sick or injured child can receive treatment at one of Orange's three hospitals

Located on the grounds of Bloomfield Campus, within  275 metres from Orange Health Service

Our Dubbo Hospital program was added in 2024 and allows us to support families with children receiving treatment in the Paediatric wards and Special Care Nursery.

Volunteer with Us

'Home is where the heart is' and the heart of Ronald McDonald House Central West are our Volunteers. The team of over 130 Volunteers who help us run the House and Programs are from all walks of life - university students, corporate professionals, retirees, mums and dads.

All those who work with us and join the team are passionate about giving back to help others from the community in which we all live.

We have opportunities to Volunteer with us at Ronald McDonald House Central West in both Orange and Dubbo.

In Orange, at our House located on the grounds of Orange Health Service, we have lots of roles available from administration, housekeeping, groundskeeping and overnight ambassodors.

In Dubbo at the Hospital, our Volunteer led Hospitality Cart program serves families with children in the Paediatric and Special Care Nursery. The shifts in Dubbo are up to 2 hours and involve supporting families with essential items.

More information about our Volunteer roles is included in the section below.

Supporting families as at the centre of what we do. Our 'home away from home' allows families to stay close to their child receiving treatment at Orange's hospitals

Our minimum requirement to Volunteer is that you are available for one 3 hour shift per month

Please phone us on (02) 6363 1960 during office hours to discuss the roles available in more detail or ask any questions you may have about Volunteering with us in either Orange or Dubbo

Volunteer Roles

We have a range of volunteer roles available to suit your needs, skill set and availability:

  • Overnight Family Ambassadors - Orange House
Our Family Ambassadors are the friendly faces who stay overnight at the House & welcome guests after hours. As an Overnight Family Ambassador your role provides an empathetic and friendly environment to all families and their children

  • Admin Angels - Orange House

As an Admin Angel your role could be varied. Greeting families as they enter and providing an orientation to our new families. Assisting families with any inquiries they may have. Taking calls/enquiries from the hospital about room availability through to entering families into our systems and running end of day reports. Additionally there may be a range of general admin tasks and projects to assist with, from fundraising to Governance and from time to time helping us with some light housekeeping.

  • Domestic Gods and Goddesses - Orange House
As the name suggests our Domestic Gods and Goddesses have a knack for being clean. They help support the cleaning team by ensuring a high standard of cleanliness through the House.

  • Bake from the Heart - come and bake for us to provide our families with comforting biscuits and cakes. Nothing better than a cup of tea and a home made biscuit after being at the hospital!

  • Hospitality Cart Volunteers - Dubbo Hospital
Volunteers are critical to the success of the Cart and will help to stock the cart, deliver the items, connect with sick children and their families and provide general well-being checks

  • Gala Ball Dream Team
Join the Gala Ball team which is a much needed support role for our largest fundraiser for the year. The Gala Ball is held annually in Orange.
