Henry from Parkes has been staying with us since before he was born

Lou and Gary are well acquainted with the team at RMHC Central West. During a routine antenatal checkup in Parkes they were advised to travel to Orange hospital immediately where Lou was admitted that night and Gary was luckily offered a room at Ronald McDonald House Central West.

For the next two weeks Lou and Gary were able to together at RMHC so that the baby could be monitored.

Having the support of the volunteers and a 'home away from home' environment during Covid was vital during this time. Henry was born at 24 weeks, during Covid pandemic, and weighed just 560 grams.

Transferring to Newcastle's John Hunter Hospital Neonatal Intensive Care Unit suitable for premature babies prior to Henry's arrival was a decision made easier with the help of Orange's team at RMHC.

"The staff in Orange went out of their way to assist with travel and transfer arrangements" said Gary which also included booking them a room at RMHC Newcastle.

"It eases the financial pressures and the physical toll of having to be a distance away. Just having the support network around, who get to know your story, and you, is so helpful."

About us

Your effort can make a big impact

Why are we doing this?

Imagine that you have just received the worst news possible – your child is seriously ill and you need to relocate your family in order to receive the lifesaving treatment that your child needs.

You would drop everything right? But what does that actually mean?

The families that stay at Ronald McDonald House Charities are away from their home, their support system and everything they know. The House provides them with support to ensure they can concentrate on what is most important, their sick child and family.

These are just a few things Ronald McDonald House Charities provide to families
  • A House that is open 365 days a year, to ensure families have a place to stay at no charge
  • Support sick kids and their families through various programs
  • Make sure families have a home cooked meal and most importantly
  • Continue keeping families together during this difficult time
With your help we're keeping families close in their time of need

You can make a difference!
